TAF's core areas of focus include combating Gender Based Violence (GBV), promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), and protecting children's rights. Through theatre-based approaches, TAF educates communities on family planning, menstrual health, STI prevention, and the dangers of early pregnancy. Additionally, TAF is committed to child protection by raising awareness on child rights and laws, using performance arts to address issues such as abuse, neglect, exploitation, and child marriage.

About Us

A committed organization dedicated to driving positive change, fostering development, and promoting gender equality for women, youth, and children in both rural and urban communities. Through the use of theatre and performance arts, the organization educates, advocates, and raises awareness on critical social issues such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), and equal access to education and economic opportunities.

Our Story

Theatre Arts Feminists (TAF) was founded in 2018 as an arts group registered under BASATA. In 2021, it was officially established as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) by a passionate group of women artists and activists, led by Executive Director Aluwa Hamisi Mkilindi. TAF began as a grassroots movement with a strong commitment to driving positive change. Guided by the message "Theatre For Change," TAF continues to inspire and empower communities through creative expression and impactful Theatre Arts.

To build a society where equal rights and opportunities are guaranteed, with gender equality mainstreamed across social, economic, technological, cultural, and leadership sectors.

Mission

To demonstrate changes through art theatre, providing capacity building to women and Young girls towards combating Gender Based Violence and empowering communities.
