JJ BREASTFEEDING ORGANIZATION (JJBO)
Key Focus Areas
A key area of focus is improving breastfeeding support and management by strengthening lactation knowledge among health professionals. This involves equipping pregnant and lactating parents with the skills and information needed to overcome breastfeeding challenges. Efforts also include reinforcing the establishment of Donor Human Milk initiatives in Tanzania.
About Us
A women led non government organization dedicated to changing the thought of breastfeeding being a natural skill and that any mother can do it, while there are plenty who are struggling and ending up with negative health effects to both mother and baby. The change is done through advocacy, capacity building, research, and cultivating an enabling environment.
Our Story
JJBO was founded in 2018 while in 2022 it was fully registered by Idda Katigula. JJBO was born out of Idda's motherhood journey whereby she struggled with breastfeeding and most health professionals could not assist. Inspired by the pediatrician who is the only International Board Certified lactation consultant in the country.
Vision
All newborns, infants, and children can access breastmilk for the first six months of life and continue up to two years for a healthy society.
Mission
To improve children's health and cognitive development by protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding through education, advocacy, counseling, and services.
